Group, FT Island, gets involved in plagiarism issues.

Some fans pointed out that “Bing Bing Bing”, one of the tracks from FT Island’s latest release, resembles English band, McFly’s “Five Colours In Her Hair”.

According to the Korea Music Copyright Association, the composer for “Bing Bing Bing” was registered under the name “HOONY”, and without any statements of samplings or remakes of the song. There were no ways to contact FT Island’s management either.

After the revision of laws made in 1999 by the Korea Ethics Committee of Public Performance, the committee is now even more stringent in checking for plagiarism than before.

The issue of plagarism is now an offense, subject to complaint. Without the consent from the original composers, samplings and remakes of songs will be deemed as plagiarism.

FT Island is currently promoting their title song “Barae”.
